Google checkout is out and finally here to stay. Infact it has even stayed and will stay forever for as long as the internet exists.

Google checkout help solves the problem of online payment transactions. Though it is not the only online payment system out there in the market, but it is by far the most preferable, alongside the use of PayPal payment system.

In a nutshell, Google checkout serves as a fast, secure checkout process that helps increase sales by bringing you more customers, while at the same time giving room for buyers, clients and prospects to quickly and easily make purchase with just a single login into the checkout platform.

One notable observation that caught my attention during my visit to Google checkout homepage was the statement that reads “Google Checkout users click on ads 10% more when the ad displays the Checkout badge, meaning more traffic to your site”. What this implies is that the use of Google checkout badges on your websites helps attract new leads for your business communication, thereby enhancing the ability to have an effective, efficient communication between you and your clients. This development can help you have and develop a robust database of prospects and clients.

Another intriguing development is the ability and advantage that Google checkout offers its users. It simply helps its users to convert more sales. From the homepage, it states “ A fast, convenient checkout process helps Google Checkout users convert 40% more than shoppers who have not used Checkout before”. This is a great win-win situation and strategic concept to a publisher or the owner of a website.

Sometimes, when I hear of some critics arguing that Google checkout is this and that, all I could do is just shake my head and say to myself “this folks are missing a lot”. To be honest with you, the use of PayPal is also good as an online payment system, but the advantages of using Google checkout is far more enormous than that of using PayPal.

Online advertising experts from www.fever360.com will help you in Google call metrics through phone extension and benefits. Phone extensions make it easy for customers to call you directly from your ad and you can easily measure the phone calls that your ads generate.

Phone extensions are a type of ad extension, an ad feature that allows advertisers to include additional information about their businesses and offering to their text ads. In the case of phone extensions, this additional information is your business phone number.

Phone extensions will work differently depending on whether or not youve enabled call metrics, a feature currently available to a limited number of US customers.
If you have not enabled call metrics, your business phone number will appear as a clickable phone number to high-end mobile device users who access Google.com search, Voice search, Google Mobile App or Google Maps for Mobile from their phone. When the mobile device user clicks on the phone number, you will be charged the same as for a standard click on the ad.
If youve enabled call metrics (currently available to a limited number of US customers), we will assign and display a custom phone number in your ads on both mobile and desktop devices. Calls to this number will be rerouted to your business phone number.

How to enable phone extensions

To enable phone extensions on your text ads, follow these steps:
1.Sign in to your AdWords account at https://adwords.google.com
2.Select the campaign for which you want to enable phone extensions.
3.Basic phone extensions only appear on high-end mobile devices, while phone extensions enabled for call metrics appear on both computers and high-end mobile devices. If youre using basic phone extensions, navigate to the Settings tab and confirm that you have selected Mobile devices with full Internet browsers under Devices (to have the phone number displayed in clickable format on mobile devices).
4.Go to the Ad extensions tab. In case you cant see this tab, read this FAQ to learn how to enable it.
5.Select the Phone extensions view and click New extension. Enter your business phone number and the country where the number is based.
6.If youve enabled call metrics (currently available only in the US), check the Call metrics box. Select the area code youd like to use for the the custom phone number.
7.Click Save.
You can return to this section at any time to edit your phone number information.

Add, edit, and manage your phone extensions

You can manage your phone extensions using the following options:
To create a new extension in a new campaign, add the extension during campaign creation under the Ad extensions section of the campaign creation page.
To add new extensions, or edit existing extensions in an existing campaign, select the campaign and navigate to the Ad Extensions tab.
i. To add an extension, click the New Extension button. To delete an extension, select the extension(s) you want to delete and click the Delete button.
ii. To edit an extension, hover over the extension and click the pencil icon that appears. This will open the editing function for extensions.

Recently, Google added new features to protect Gmail users against phishing attacks. The webmail will now display more information regarding the origin of the e-mail. The new feature displays the entire e-mail address along with the sender’s name, when they receive e-mail from a sender, who is not in their contact list. When senders share links or article from a third party site, Gmail will display the sender’s name, e-mail address and the third party site. Gmail will display third party site by using ‘via’ such as via xyz.com. Gmail will also alert users on e-mails arriving from suspicious sources or which appear to be using spoofed address. The alert will appear below the header, which displays sender name. In case of phishing attacks, cybercriminals send cleverly crafted e-mails to entice users into fraudulent schemes, or urging them to click on given links, or download malware attachments. Phishing e-mails demand urgent action and tempt Internet users to react. Professionals qualified in masters of security science and penetration testing may help developers in identifying and mitigating security flaws.

Cybercriminals use social engineering techniques to entice users to download malicious files from a website. Once, unwary users download the files, malicious code is executed on their system. The malware then exploits the vulnerabilities in the computer system, and extract confidential data. In another form of phishing attack, cybercriminals lure Internet users to follow a fake link in the e-mail, which directs them to a spoofed website. When users enter the data on the fake website, they inadvertently compromise personal and financial information. In a cross-scripting attack, cybercriminals inject a malicious code on a legitimate website. When users click on the link, the malicious script runs on their web browser. Phishers also carry out cross-scripting attacks by sending an e-mail message with counterfeit links. When user clicks on the link, they inadvertently execute malicious code. The attackers gain access to sensitive information, which they may use for fraudulent purposes. IT security professionals may update their skills on a regular basis through security certifications and online university degree programs.

Internet users must create strong passwords, which are unpredictable and do not contain dictionary words. E-mails from banks and financial institutions are generally personalized. They must avoid e-mails, which are not personalized. They must verify with the service provider before entertaining any seeking personal and financial information for sensitive information such as login credentials, credit card numbers, social security numbers and verification questions. Legitimate business and banks generally do not request for financial information through e-mail. They must verify the authenticity of the website URL through Internet search engines. Check for spelling mistakes in company name in the URL. Avoid web address, which began with numbers or proxy name or suffixes and prefixes before the company name. E-tutorials and online degree programs may help Internet users in keeping track of security threats.

PayPal and Google Checkout both offer a way for buyers to securely shop online, and protect customers and businesses by their anti-fraud policies. Both the online payment gateways provide SSL security. Though both the options have some pros and cons, they are free to set up and signing up is simple.

• PayPal: Owned by eBay, Paypal has been around on the web for years. Pay Pal is one of the most widely adopted forms of online payment gateway.

1. PayPal needs your e-mail address and some basic details to set up an account and later ask over for your credit card or bank account information as needed.
2. PayPal is much more popular than Google Checkout as it offers an extensive variety of services for shoppers and businesses to exchange funds.
3. PayPal is more diverse as copared to Google Checkout.

A customer can only make use of credit or debit card with Google Checkout. PayPal, in contrast, permits for credit card payment and deduction from a bank account. It also grants eCheck facility.
4. PayPal is available in 55 countries. PayPal accepts six currencies, the U.S. dollar, euro, the pound, the Canadian dollar, the yen and the Australian dollar. Currency exchange facility is also available with PayPal.
5. Your level of account decides the charges on PayPal. You have to pay 1.9 percent to 2.9 percent of your sales, and 30 cents per transaction.

• Google Checkout: Google Checkout has been launched by Google in 2006 as an alternative to PayPal.

1. Google Checkout is deemed much easier to use than PayPal. You can pay for goods more easily and in fewer steps.
2. Google Checkout allows storing addresses, credit and debit card information in its system and you don’t have to retype all that data each time.
3. Google Checkout allows a user to log in to a single Google username to shop online, while hiding the data and e-mail address from traders where as PayPal keep financial details concealed from stores, however merchants can see e-mail address of the buyers.
4. Google Checkout is only available for U.S. purchases. So, no international shopping is possible with this online payment gateway.
5. Google Checkout charges 2% of sales and 20 cents per transaction. However, you can utilize your Google AdWords account to lower the cost of your transaction fees.

Google Checkout has the advantage of integration with Google AdWords while PayPal has a wide range of features available that include invoicing, statements, shipping and tax calculations. One should consider his ecommerce website needs before deciding on either online payment gateway.

If you are thinking or wanting to sell online but don’t know how to go about it then there are some great merchant services out there to help you.

For instance if you want to offer a fully customised shopping cart then both PayPal and Google Checkout can offer this service, things such as inventory tracking, automatic tax and shipping costs are all included. The cart can be designed to match your site design so consistency is kept throughout the site.

The more advanced the cart needs to be the more your knowledge of coding such as HTML needs to be, the costs can also be higher.

If you are looking for basic merchant services such as a buy it now button or only allowing customers to add a few items to a basket then this can easily be done by using code generation. Simply signup for an account, follow the instructions as to be products description, price and delivery charge.

Then once this has been done a HTML code will be generated to allow you to copy and paste into your website. Once it has been added to your website users will be able to view your product as normal and then click onto the button which redirects them onto either PayPal or Google Checkout (depending on which one you use) for the transaction to be processed. Customers will either be asked to sign up if they currently don’t have an account or just perform a one off payment.

If you choose to use a buy it now button option then you wont be able to track stocks and sales unless you manually do it yourself, if you are only going to be selling a few items then this really shouldn’t matter too much.

The best thing about using these services is that once a customer clicks to buy a product they are redirected through to the merchant’s website meaning that payments are secure and handled by them so you can be sure of the best quality service and security for you and your customers. What ever service you choose the customer will have a confirmation email and so will you, one less thing to worry about.

It really is a simplistic way to sell online, if you do choose the full shopping cart option would advise that you employ the services of a web designer or developer to help you install it onto your site, this will of course be a cost to you but well worth doing to make things run smoothly.

The other cost to consider is the charges impacted by either PayPal or Google Checkout to receive payments. If you are only making small sales under £1000 for instance, the fee is usually 3.4% of the total sum plus an additional 20p. The more you sell and the more money you turnover the lower the fee becomes. Be sure to factor any of these costs into your price so that it doesn’t affect your bottom line margin too much.

These are very effective methods to help you get started selling online, once sales start going well and your turnover increases then the time may come when you would like to use your own custom shopping cart then a developer will have to become involved. You can still use both services as checkout options though so its no one massive upheaval.

Google has a host of great applications and services, all designed to make Internet browsing and shopping user-friendly. One service that Google offers is called Google Checkout, and it makes buying and selling on the Internet very convenient because shoppers just have to enter a user name and password in order to make a purchase.Much like PayPal or Verisign, the Google Checkout logo, a blue shopping cart, signifies security and trusted monetary exchange. Shoppers who browse items in Google Shopping can click the blue logo and never even have to visit the merchants website. It is not only easy, but it is convenient too. The question becomes, is it also good business for Maryland Web Design firms to suggest adding the Google Checkout process to their ecommerce clients?

After more than four years of use, what do ecommerce sites have to say about the impact of adding Google Checkout to their cart solutions? Google say that this can increase Click Through Rate on Adwords by 10% if Google Checkout is also offered. Based on the comments on blogs and forums, many merchants agree with Google, stating that they also see a return on investment from Google Checkout, and that it provides a safe buying experience for their customers. Another compelling reason for adding Google Checkout to your clients ecommerce solutions is that a few simple searches on Google Shopping shows all the many, many merchants that have already included the feature. Google Shopping allows you to search for only sites that use Google Checkout, so of course the incentive is there for merchants to be in those searches.

This alone is compelling evidence for Maryland Website Design firms to encourage their ecommerce clients to add Google Checkout options to their carts, especially if they already spend money advertising with Google, or uses the Google product search feed. Once integrated with Checkout, the cart, the Adwords ad, and the Google Product Search listing will show the little blue Checkout symbol beside all these items. In addition, the listings will also show Seller Ratings, which are compelling symbols that shoppers trust.

Google suggests explaining the advantages of Google Checkout on your website, stressing the ease in shopping, the ease in signing up for Checkout, the ease of tracking your orders, and the security of knowing that Google protects you from unauthorized purchases. Google Checkout protects the shopper and the seller because the Checkout’s Payment Guarantee allows merchants to get paid even if the order results in a chargeback.

Google has even added an overview video that provides a quick introduction to Google Checkout that they encourage website owners to link to from their websites, and they have written an email that website owners can send to their lists explaining the Google Checkout advantages in an effort to get Google Checkout wider acceptance.

It is very easy for a merchant to start using Google Checkout. All that is required is that the merchant offers physical goods for sale, follow the Google Product Search Program Policies and the Google Checkout Content Policies, have a billing address in the US (not a P.O. box), have a US bank account, and supply either a Social Security Number or Tax Identification Number.

One of the main advantages of using Google Checkout is its integration with AdWords. This means that you can get preferred pricing on a number of services and even automatically pay transaction fees with earnings from your AdWord account. Additionally, when your ad is displayed on other Web pages and in search engine results, a shopping cart icon appears so that it is easy to see that you accept Google Checkout, offering a possible way to increase sales.

Of course all merchants should carefully consider their needs before deciding on using Google Checkout, but it is definitely a service that Maryland Web Design companies should discuss with their ecommerce clients.Google Checkout can help merchants get more visitors, get 10% more sales, and reduce fraud.

The bottom line is that as a Maryland Website Developer, you should recommend the addition of Google Checkout to all your ecommerce clients and provide them with enough information so that they can decide whether to add the service to their shopping carts.

Google Checkout and/or Google checkout online payment system is the best and highly convenient online payment system out there; hold on, I will explain.

The first point of note in this matter is your decision making status. Are you really ready to use Google checkout online payment system on your website or not? Fine, there are various options available, since there are numerous online payments merchants, systems and gateways out there, but consideration should be given to a lot of factors before you settle for online payment system of choice.

The first issue is to consider fast execution on transaction activities, followed by security and safety and thirdly (from my experience and assessment), the geographical barrier obstacles. So, one should not just be every tom, dick and harry that jumps about with anything that comes its way. Careful and thorough investigation should be made into the type of online payment to choose from.

It is no more news, even to online newbie’s on the popularity of PayPal and Google Checkout; though the later might not be popular like PayPal, however, there are some stark differences between the two, with the later (Google Checkout) being my most preferred form of online payment system.

From some quarters, there is the general believe that PayPal is the best online payment system; however, I do not believe this assertion of theirs.

My main and major reason not to accept the above stated fact is due to what I call geographical barrier.

PayPal is not present in most countries compared to the spread and reach of Google, which to me makes Google checkout highly favoured, useful and better than PayPal. For example, a commercial website owner in Nigeria, Africa cannot use PayPal as an online payment system just because it is not present, which unlike Google Checkout is available.

I’m of the firm believe that Google Checkout online payment system is the best and most preferred form of online payment system in the whole world right now.

Google Checkout is a much faster and more secure way to buy from online stores, which requires the use of a single username and corresponding password. This means no more creating new accounts every time you decide to buy. The way it works is simple. Just follow the steps given below:

To check if you can use Google Checkout, look out for the Google Checkout icon, which is just the Google logo with checkout in a blue capsule to the right of it. If this sign is not there, then you will not be able to use Google Checkout.
Because you have already entered all your details with Google Checkout earlier, there is no need to do that again. You can just go ahead and start adding shopping items to your cart.
Once you’ve loaded your cart with whatever you need, you just need to click on the Google Checkout icon. You will be asked to sign in—just provide your user name and password, review your order, and you’re done.

The biggest advantages of Google Checkout are speed and security.

Speed, due to the fact that a single username and password, is all that it takes to make purchases at multiple outlets. You get security on account of the fact that you do not have to share your bank and other personal details with various vendors. There is also a “keep email private” option, which allows greater privacy and keeps out spam. Users also have a more organized purchase history all on one web page from which they can track orders, deliveries, and even contact sellers.

Let’s also consider the merchant point of view. Firstly, it helps give their customers the ease and security that we talked about. Then there are no set-up costs, only transaction fees that are much lower than, say, those of PayPal. It is perhaps not fair to compare Google Checkout and PayPal because Google Checkout does not offer many of the features and services that are available with larger more traditional gateways. It is, however, for small businesses needs. The biggest advantage accrues if you integrate your account with AdSense, in which case the fees that you earn will offset any transaction costs that you incur.

What Are the Disadvantages of Google Checkout?

The biggest drawback of using Google Checkout versus other gateways lies in the fact that you can accept limited means of payment; only debit and credit cards, namely. You cannot accept e-checks or other means, which limits your user base and with it your sales potential.

Also, as Google Checkout is not really a payment gateway, you are required to take a few additional steps to deposit money from your Google account to your bank account, something that may cause inconvenience as your transactions increase.

PayPal remains a more accepted means of payment than Google Checkout, but if your business does not justify the setting up expense that PayPal entails, you should start out with Google Checkout.
